Two workouts in five weeks- got stronger

As the title says, due to some family issues my last workout was three weeks ago and the next most recent one was two weeks before that. I wasn't feeling it tonight but decided it was now or never. I was unsure whether to back off a bit, but said frick it and picked up where I left off. I didn't expect much but was actually a bit stronger, even on farmers walks which are notoriously hard for me to improve on.
I'm sure if I kept this up I'd eventually get behind the curve but for now the layoff helped, or at least didn't hurt.

Old people need more time to recover between workouts. I do this too.

Not weeks at a time though.

Nice! Could be recovery time or something diet related like being carb loaded.

What? I can't tell a little age joke? C'mon...I aimed it at me too.
But, in all seriousness, depending on the circumstances, adults who are employed, responsible, (especially for the well-being of others), and have obligations that are out of their hands have to train/exercise/work-out whenever they can, however they can. This happens all of the time and you do what you have to do.
I'm sure some people never quite get into a rhythm and they just train when they can train, it's not ideal, but sometimes it's the best you can do, and you can still progress too. If an older, more inexperienced person is putting the work in and trying to move the needle from "shite to Suck" as Joe Defranco says (he's referring to moving from a state of being a raw beginner at something to being just slightly better than a raw beginner) that person only needs to do the basics, and they only need to do the basics at the bare minimum amount to see results.
