So where was he when the ball was actually being fielded at first. Because that pic isn’t the situation the rule is protecting against.

Doesn’t matter. There was a fielding play made at 1st. He was out of the running lane

Yes it is. We lost the game and we have to blame ourselves, but if the runner is making our catcher move to throw around him then it’s interference.
