If he wants to call the city attorney himself and ask if he can get placed in diversion, then I would suggest doing that.
If you hired a lawyer that would be the first thing the lawyer would do.
If he cannot bring himself to do this without an attorney, I would suggest calling Yigal Bander. LINK
