Sure it is.

It's realistic in a world where we actually have rights, and we place value on those rights.

If there's any blame at all assigned to this guy, we don't really have rights. You may be OK with that to win some point on the internet. I am not.

I get what you are tyring to say, but it's not realistic in any world. Guns escalate situations. You have to understand that as a gun owner and accept the consequences when you pull your gun out, even when you haven't done anything wrong. That's simply the consequences of presenting a gun into any situation. If you're cool with trying to prove a point of legality with your gun in stupid situations, be my guest. You're just as dumb as the idiot bike rider trying to prove his point to the car.
Go ahead and answer your door every single time for the rest of your life with your gun in hand legally. You'll eventually come across someone who doesn't like it and pulls their gun out, legally. Then what? We wait to see who "draws" first and they are the murderer who's left alive?
