Whether SOP or not what the cop did is set up a situation that was sketchy as hell for the person inside the apartment.

knocking on someone's door in the middle of the day is sketchy?
Yeah i find it sketchy when the mormons or the other christians or the finanacial advisor knocks on my door in the middle of the day too. I usually greet them with a gun in my hand.
I've had a cop knock on my door during the day before. I didn't go get my gun like a dumbass.

in the middle of the day? you get hairs on the back of your neck when someone knocks on your door and isn't in the peephole?
You've seen the video right? this isnt' happenign at 2am. If it was 2am, then all of this nonsense your spouting would make sense.
This happened at 4:30 PM

If you argue what the man did is stupid you have to see the root of that is a cop problem. When you get shot and not a single thing you did in front of the cop is illegal that is not a citizen problem, or it shouldn't be.

This is as stupid as saying "i have freedom of speech and can say whatever the frick i want without consequences". that's not how freedom of speech works.
And this is not how owning a gun works. Sure it's legal to have a gun in your house, and you can be armed in your house when you answer the door if you so chose, but by doing so you just escalated the situation. You've now given the other person on the other side of the door a reason to believe their life is in danger b/c you brought a gun out. It's not a device you should use as a threat.

and again, who the frick answers their door at 4:30PM with a gun in their hand. Again, I know it's perfectly legal to do so, but it's beyond stupid. And if you are doing shite in your life where it's warranted to answer the door that way at 4:30, then I don't really give a shite about what happens to you.

I think he’s probably referring to the cop banging on the door without announcing himself as “police” and then moving out of view from the peephole while he waited for the guy to open up.

If someone banged on my door like that and then I looked out and couldn’t see anyone, I would certainly think it was sketchy. He later announced himself but I suspect the resident had already picked up the pistol at that point considering the timing of it all.

You bothered to quote the salient part later.

quote:

YES. If you bang on the door without announcing and I can't see you in the peephole with its wide-angle lens you are purposefully hiding from my view which is exactly what the cop was doing in his case for both cover and concealment. If someone is hiding from view that banged on your and you don't sense a potential threat then I don't know what to say to you.

I am not even going to argue the 2A to 1A conflation. If you can not exercise your 2A right in your own home when not making any threatening gesture toward anyone where the hell can you exercise it? The video is clear he was executed for exercising a right in his own domicile and did absolutely nothing threatening unless you are one of the group that is threatened by the mere presence of a firearm.
