A $1500 repair bill over a decade+ of use wouldn't deter me from buying a particular vehicle.

I own a Honda, me either, but all manufacturers have issues. Oil consumption and A/C issues are pretty common of recent for Honda. Some are worse like Nissan transmissions. Just saying it’s unlikely to have 300k “trouble free miles” on any car. Alternator/starter/suspension parts are other likely culprits. We will see how this Honda holds up, others I’ve owned were better than Nissan but not as good as Toyota.

Many cars will give 200,000-300,000 miles, with normal maintenance. Toyota and Honda are two of the most common. My friend had a Volvo, burning oil, what a POS. The dealership said this was normal. A friend bought an Audi the same time I bought a Tacoma truck, in 2019. The Tacoma is worth more. Some things last longer, have a better resale value. I've had 4 Toyota's as of late, $500 had been the biggest expense for A/C compressor. All other, regular maintenance.
