First off, I agree that it did little or nothing to prevent transmission, and that Fauci et al lied about that.
The way it saved lives is that the data overwhelmingly shows that people who had been recently vaccinated had much better fatality results than those who did not. This is true of old and infirm people mostly. It had little effect on young healthy people.

That data has been found to not be true. Plus it caused fatalities in young people. You are not able to compute current data without dragging in old propaganda.
