Neal could be huge down the stretch

I said we probably needed on of Kling, Neal, or Bingham to step up to really go on a run. We need to lengthen our lineup and/or have a couple guys off the bench who could come in and give good ABs.
Hey, there's Kling barreling one up. Both with 2 outs. I know it's Northwestern, but still, good signs.

They have both consistently hit non SEC pitching well all year ..this is more of the same.

Well, they're in the lineup tonight. Better to hit inferior pitching than not, right? And baseball is so mental. You can gain confidence against lesser pitching and carry it over into the SEC. Maybe not. But would you not agree that it's better than them doing poorly tonight? Or just nothing they could possibly do tonight matter at all to you?

Milazzo needs to be behind the plate when we play teams that matter. Friday night against A&M proved that.

Well no shite. His point is that they have been able to hit midweek pitching all year, but not able to carry that over to the weekend. Until they actually start hitting SEC pitching it’s pointless.

Carl they have hit inferior pitching well all season. If neither had been hitting inferior pitching and started hitting it tonight I would agree but this is what they have done all season. Compile stats against non SEC teams and flop.on weekends.

Neal and Kling drove in 3 of our 4 runs Sunday.

Neal hitting .132 in SEC play Kling hitting .170....and what was the score Sunday?

Neal hit a huge home run against the #1 team in the country Sunday to give us a 2-0 lead.
I am not saying to play Neal over Milazzo. I don't think Neal is a great defensive catcher right now. Although I think his back injury has played a big part in that. But he could be a huge bat off the bench. And there will be certain games where, as much as everybody loves Milazzo, having Travinski's and Neal's bats in the lineup will give us a better chance of winning than having Alex back there. As good as he is defensively, at some point, we're going to have to hit the ball over the fence to win. It may not work. But it may be our best chance.
Regardless, Jay said Alex caught too many intense innings last weekend and needed a break Sunday. Obviously, that will likely happen in a regional. Or might not. But Neal being confident and getting it going now would be huge. Even if he's just a bat off the bench to face a RH reliever.
Neal's ceiling is indisputably higher than Milazzo's. Milazzo's ceiling was high enough on last year's team. The year's is so less talented offensively, that we may need some high ceiling/"lower floor" guys to get closest to their ceilings to compete.

Jay needs to find 2 transfer catchers who can hit and field and at least 1 centerfielder who can hit for next year or Tigers will have another sub 500 SEC seaon.

We're talking about this year, Rudy. If you want to talk about next year, start that thread. But quit embarrassing yourself in mine with your shitty takes. But what's hilarious, is you think you're smart.

At this point why not play Milazzo and DH Neal? Trav has not been very loud at the plate lately.

As long as he isn't catching, fine with him DHing. Too many passed balls with Neal.

Absolutely no way you can have him DHing over Travinski

I just hope we get to go “down the stretch”

Yes, if we face mediocre pitching the rest of the way.
