I suspect it is no worse today than ever it is merely easier to hear and see people saying controversial stuff. Its always been a problem that people wanted to dictate what other people say....

Triggered? Nah I think the ME needs to sort its shite out on their own.

What I do find fascinating is much of the ME is open about their desire for genocide against the Israelis/Jews and people seem to forget that the last person who wanted that was Hitler.

So you are in agreement with the pro-palestinian protestors who are calling for an end to US aid to Israel? Thats what the ME sorting its own shite out looks like....

Why can't it be both? Hamas is evil, and the Jews have committed atrocities to Palestinians as well over the last several decades. I've heard experts on the ground there discuss both sides, and it just sounds like a shitty situation that won't ever get resolved to be honest. Everything on this board has to be so black and white. That book sounds interesting, and I'm sure there's an equally interesting book for the other side of the argument too.

I could’ve clarified that better, but no, that’s not what I mean. I think Israel has a right to protect itself from aggression in a manner they deem necessary. When their very existence as a people is threatened regularly, they shouldn't have to answer to anyone.

They’re one of our strongest allies and aiding them in intelligence and equipment is important.

I know this story didn’t actually happen, but how big of a self-absorbed a-hole do you have to be to try and strike up a conversation with a guy reading a book at an airport bar? Read the fricking room.

I can't, I've only listened to podcasts. For years, they supposedly have made their living conditions horrendous with respect to food and water supply according to Abby Martin. I think there's always two sides to a lot of these things. I'm not taking up for either, but I don't think she's full of shite since she's been on the ground there a bunch.

Fast forward 3h, I’m at the bar. Younger guy having a beer, reading a book is sitting next to me. I’m intrigued and am interested in literature. I asked him what he’s reading. Shows me the cover and starts talking about the “atrocities of Israel” how the “self-immolated author” has a perspective on “colonialism and the atrocities the Jews commit.”

So because he didn’t have the same world view as you, he’s a problem? Sounds like he was a well-adjusted and believed his truth. You sound like someone who is intolerant of allowing others to believe in what they will.

You might be the problem.

When I see weirdos as the OP described, It's kind of like I see them and I don't see them. They are not part of my world or my concern. I don't give them a second thought because I don't give a frick about them. I'm so far removed from these types that i wonder if we even breathe the same air.

I read it too. Thankfully the guy was a shitty writer or it might have gained more traction.

The best you can do is try to convince people that ensuring those other people can speak freely means they can speak freely too.
