I don’t know how much overlay there would be between NBA guys and soccer guys
I said non-pro level, not NBA. Tons of guys with heights starting with 5 playing ball in high school and college (there is a lot more college basketball than even D1).

The frick?
He's not even the best player on his team

Well, we also produce an insane amount of taller guys who have the ability to develop skills of younger guys. That's kind of the dream, but that requires our top athletes, and that is unlikely to ever happen.
That's why I'm focusing on the elite athletes who have no shot and chase the dream. If we could even get a small chunk of these people to dedicate themselves to soccer, we could have insane output. We are developing pretty regular solid-great talent now with our D-level athletes. Imagine if we could bump that up to C-level (with our huge population).

Didn’t he get 2nd in the player of the year award despite not winning shite at the International Level?

Yea it seems like most countries where soccer is the 2nd sport or worse, their national team completely sucks. Soccer here is comfortably 4th or 5th and we are at least decent

Again, nhl players are the best overall athletes. However you could get more nfl players on nba rosters compared to the nba of an nfl roster. Just the physicality of the nfl would drive the nba players away in droves… height is not that much of a factor.
