Exploration and trying new IP ideas is a good thing but it should always come as an addition to what you know are guaranteed blockbuster hits. I feel like the gaming industry for far too long (outside of Nintendo) has been 80% “new ideas” and trying new things and 20% successful and proven IPs. It should not take over a decade for Bethesda to release an Elder Scrolls or Fallout games.

Nintendo is the only gaming company that does it right. They know they are going to have hits with Mario, Zelda and a few other IPs. They always have significant resources working on those titles. Then on the side they invest on new IPs that they will give a shot every now and then. And if they are successful they will get more funding for the next game.
People like to shite on Nintendo for “only releasing 3 or 4 big series” but it’s smart.

It's literally the exact opposite

The gaming industry relies too much on existing IPs and/or licensed properties along with the same ideas (every game is either an online FPS or open world action 'RPG')
