i follow a few of the boat launch humor pages on IG like qualified captain, etc, even though i'm not a boater myself. can anyone explain a plausible scenario that results in a truck being submerged in the water off the end of the ramp? it seems like there is video after video of this phenomenon, and i cant figure out what is happening to cause this so often. surely these people arent all just leaving their trucks in reverse and jumping out. i can see that occasionally happening, but there has to be somethign else that causes this to happen. is it too big of a boat on too small of a truck?

please explain to a non-boater wannabe baw like myself.

The worst are the guides or the tournament fisherman that think that means they have priority. I once saw a guy in big bay boat in some type of redfish tournament leave his truck and boat in the launch to go weigh in his fish. He was gone 20 minutes and didn't see a problem with it when he returned and everybody was shitting on him.

The funniest I saw as a guy trying to load 17 or 18ft flat on the trailer off the side of the road on the old road between Leesville and Fourchon. Truck was in the road, front of the boat on the trailer, back of the boat on the ground. The prop had hung up on a stump off something pulling up and the boat slid off the back but not back into the water. We thought it was hilarious. They guy driving did not.

I've seen that with a couple of old Ford Rangers and heard there is an issue with the parking brake. Having had a 92 Ranger for a while, I can say that is just one of the issues. I did use it to launch a boat on occasion, and was mindful about that.
