I have an OG Weber kettle that’s probably 25 years old still going strong. If you want an offset, the best thing going for the money is the chargriller offset at the depot. You have to keep it covered but I got 15 years out of the first one and I’m 5 years in on the replacement. It cooks shockingly well

Find a bucees.
Bring a trailer.
Buy one of their pits.
Haul home.
Get the big one.
For the offset smoker go down to academy and buy a replacement burner for $13. The one with all the holes. Get a 1/4 thick plate 12"x12" from lowes or stines. Stub out the side with a pipe nipple to the burner and put a quick connect to a propane bottle. Put Plate on top of the grill grates with the burner under it. Throw wet chunks of wood on top. Make a big nice hotplate smoke controllable by propane bottle.
Enjoy
