re: Former pack a day smokers, how long after quitting did the cravings finally go away?

A little over a year.

They really quit when I smoked a cigar (no inhaling). I smoke a cigar on occasion, but since I did that, I have not wanted a cigarette at all. Before that, smelling cigarette smoke made me want one, now it has no effect at all.

I'm sure it seems dumb or counterintuitive to someone who's never smoked but smoking good cigars for the first time was the catalyst that led to me quitting. I got into cigars 15 years ago and after a dozen or so of them over the course of a few months, I began noticing all the chemical tastes in cigs.
