The 2019 D struggled at times but they were pretty solid at the end of the year. Not elite, but for the time being we're not going to be seeing many, if any, truly elite defenses. Eventually there will be innovations or rule changes that will swing the pendulum back but today's game is offense with defenses trying to hold on and do just enough.

Other than maybe UGA, idk of any elite defenses since that year or a little before. You just don’t see the elite defenses today like you did since the 2011 LSU/Bama defenses and the years before that.
