I’m about there. How’d it turn out for you?
Yep, it's the only job I gave no notice on.
In my 20's I managed a men's dept in a Steinmart in a mall. One day we had a shoplifter and one of the mall cops and I chased him down (out into traffic).
As a manager, part of my evaluation was how much theft (called "shrink") we had in my department. We were getting skull-fricked by a ring of shoplifters and corporate management hired (and I'm not shitting you) a female midget as our security person after months of complaining (her son was seen shoplifting there, but that's another story).
The cop and I have the shoplifter in the back, the store manager calls and said if he would give back the merchandise there would be no charges.
The next day at the manager's meeting I threw my badge at him, told him to shove it up his arse and walked out (it was a bit more detailed than that, but that's the highlights).
I didn't have shite lined up. Sat on my arse for a week or so then went out and found another job. The next job was meh but it didn't need to last all that long, I found a better one a few months later.
There's a bit of wisdom in not burning a bridge unless you absolutely have to. For me, that bridge burned itself.
