Sadly the idea came too late to build such a thing. Climate Change has led to more severe storms and now we see the very thing that could save us from Climate Change cannot withstand the storms

That's what the MSM says, not what the actual data says.
The computer sims indicate that virtually all of the warming will take place toward the poles and little to none toward the equator. That is a formula for milder weather, not more severe storms.
This is confirmed by any look at recorded history. The warm eras were marked by mild weather and fewer storms. The Medieval Warming and the Roman Warming were noted for mild weather. Conversely, the Little Ice Age was marked by many violent storms.
It is also confirmed in the geological record.
The violence of the weather systems are based on the contrast between hot and cold. Less contrast equals less energy and fewer severe storms as a result.
