Agree, George HW Bush basically carried us out of the Cold War and was our President during Operation Desert Storm. I played a round of golf with him during a Secret Service event here in Kingwood years ago. Picked his brain a little. I might not be a fan of his son for dragging us into Iraq but I respect the shite out of this man despite him pretty well having the same values. His downfall will always be “no new taxes”.

It’s rumored that George HW Bush secretly opposed the second Iraq War (and unsuccessfully tried to talk his son out of the idea) because he realized that actually invading Iraq would be completely different than driving Iraq out of Kuwait.

Anyway, George HW Bush wasn’t a bad president, just a pretty unmemorable one. The Gulf War ended up being pretty unmemorable because the war was won so quickly. George W. Bush, in the other hand, ended up being extremely memorable for all the wrong reasons.
