I think that depends on the pressure washer. If you have something with 3,000psi/3gpm or more then I don't think a pretreatment is going to help. If you are using something electric you're probably going to need the extra help to loosen the grime.

All the pros pretreat with a bleach water mix.
Anything other than that and you are likely to either end up with lines or needing to do it again before long.
