It's an option but kind of like a last resort shot at a "repair". Depending on the age of the system and the exact location and size of the leak it might be worth it if the only other choice is a system replacement or replacing a line set if that is where they can pinpoint the leak. It's probably going to run you a few hundred dollars, maybe $500 at the most if the repair works and they put a few pounds of refrigerant in.
