Same here but it still hurts worse than anything I've ever experienced.

My BIL, who has been a close friend for decades, now has been institutionalized with Alzheimer's. He was a brilliant, politically important man, who was admired by many. He was an avid hunter, I presumed his hearing loss over the years, was from gunshot noise.

I am 74 with tinnitus for decades, yet I am still able to work in a technically intense field. I have had a neurologist tell me that hearing loss can be caused by dementia, but he doubts that dementia causes hearing loss.
