Depends on the HOA. You better read the agreement and know the most petty of petty mother frickers will be riding around enforcing it to the letter. You want people policing your landscaping? The color of paint on your house?

^^This is the main problem. HOA's are good for that one guy in the neighborhood that has 5 broken cars, trashed boats, 4-wheelers laying around and doesn't mow his grass.

You will always have that person though that will nitpick everything to death, measuring grass, shingle color on a shed, 1 trailer parked where it is slightly visible, etc.

It seems like it would be simple enough, but you can't prevent the first guy, without having the second guy.

The solution is move far enough out in the country where you don't have neighbors or an HOA. That is what I did!

I had a family member that was in rotation as hoa prez which he despised.

During one his terms a pesky neighbor called about 5 am on a Saturday morning. He was not pleased and it over something asinine like someone’s grass being too short. He asked the guy “Is it hurting you?”

He told the guy to call after 8am.
