Portable and it rocks
I made one out of an overhead projector years ago and it worked great at night....did not work at all in daylight. Yours work in daylight?
We used that overhead projector TV for movie night on base in Germany....it was great. Used a sheet for a screen, put out a notice that we were setting it up and have a block party....it was blast. Also watched a lot of sports on it in the same manner.

I use mine mostly out on our lanai. I didnt want to hang a TV up out there. Just got tired of installing them in the new house.
I use it right on the side of the wall. It looks great at night. Even with the rough finished walls in Florida. Works during the day as well. If I were going to use it a lot outside during the day, I will get a cheap screen and just hang it when I needed it.
I like it because we have Xfinity to go and I just take it with us and use it where ever we go.
The sound is not great but you can add a bluetooth speaker. The good thing about the sound though is that it comes out of the projector so you dont have to turn it up so lout outside. At night, I just put it on the deck and shoot it up on the side of the house.
I never tried the first gen version of the Samsung but this one works great. I have had a couple goofy connectivity issues but they usually work themselves out in a few mins...
