It's about partisanship, which is just group identity at its heart.
Every thought, concept, talking point, conceptualization, etc. has to flow from that group identity.
That's why people who based their personal philosophies and preferred policies on internal things like values and ideas find it so strange.

This is precisely why I remind these people of the bump stock shite from 2018. It isn't about bump stocks. It's about reminding them of who they really are and what they really support.
