how was the media and establishment so successful at making people absolutely hate Trump with a passion?

It took nothing from the media or the establishment. I viewed him as a conman clown before he entered politics. Hearing him speak makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

He appeals to idiots and terrible people. I vastly underestimated the size of that population until Trump validated being shitty and ignorant and you all started coming out of the closet.

Just listening to him talk is enough for a lot of people.

No media needed.

Constant messaging with hate filled rhetoric.

ie. if you repeat a lie enough times, people will believe it. Especially women and emotional men

Trump was a controversial figure before he entered politics. I personally though he douche with bad hair prior to him running for POTUS. Throw politics into the situation and then 8+ years of relentless attacks. It will either make you hate the guy to an unhealthy level or make you respect the hell out of the man. Personally, the relentless attacks have made me respect the hell out of the man. If I was in his situation, I would have taken my billions, wished the country the best of luck, retired to MAL and played golf for the rest of my life instead of staying in the snake pit that is American politics.

Most of them think he is guilty of the worst crimes possible, without a shred of proof. You can ask some why they hate him and they can't even come up with an answer.

This reminds me of how religious leaders have convinced people of their religious dogma without a shred of proof (and ample evidence to the contrary). You can ask some how they believe and all they can say is it’s in their book and they’ll believe it despite evidence to the contrary.

Some people have a lot of hate in their heart. You just need to give them a place where they feel safe directing it.
