Also, I doubt this has anything to do with VP.
There are too many obstacles, and Trump is not going to pick an ultra Conservative. He likely will pick a moderate.
This is about the two sides making up, or pretending to, which solidifies the Conservative hold outs for Trump, allows Desantis to campaign for him in Florida and fundraise, speak at the RNC in likely a relatively prime timeslot, and repair his image with MAGA voters.
Its a win for both politically, but Trump is going to pick some one much more Moderate than Ron (and likely should, strategically).

DeSantis would be crazy to accept.
Too many former appointees of Trump end up being his scapegoats. Who would want that?

He can do all these things, (and almost certainly will), without taking the risk of the VP slot.
