In case yall haven't seen it, South Park did an incredible episode on handymen and how basically they're overbooked constantly to the highest bidders since no one knows how to do work themselves:

They don't know and they don't want to take a risk on trying a fix themselves. Can't tell you how many times I've been called out by a client because something wasn't working and it was something like dead batteries, loose power cord, tripped GFCI or breaker. I'm fine with such situations, I make a good chunk of cash for a few minutes of work.
