Unless the service was horrible (and sometimes it is, but even then I only throttle back to 15%), I usually tip 20%, rounded up to the next $5 interval.

Long before I became professionally successful, I was poor and worked a good number of crap delivery jobs around my school schedule. I remember how much an extra tip meant back in the day.

I feel like as a general rule everyone should work in a restaurant at some point in their life. It isn't always easy, and it will teach compassion to give people a little grace.
