There was no tone set from the organization from the beginning . leading up to the draft, they did nothing but praise him bc they were worried he’d spurn them . They let his dad talk at the intro presser . They let him get fat, he got injured, let his step dad call shots he got injured . Sent him home in the bubble to protect him . There is example after example .
Zion carries the most blame and again to me that is not debatable but the organization that writes his checks did not hold him accountable or failed miserably and then started writing him bigger checks .
All that said something clicked for the first time in his pro career the 2nd half of the season and we have to hope and pray he will get to that and work ti develop his game .

What were they going to do, tell him he didn't meet the weight criteria they set so he couldn't play basketball to continue his rehab and get back in time for the playoffs? Oh wait, that's exactly what happened last year. You think money is a motivator? They put weight clauses tied to team void clauses in his contract. We have literally seen them fail repeatedly attempting to do what you are sure will work.
Don't get me wrong, do I think someone like Pat Riley and the Miami Heat could pull off a Tough Love routine with Zion. Yes, but not everyone can accomplish that. I would think most organizations would like the gravitas that Riley and the Heat have to pull it off, and most that tried would crash and burn like the Pels did.
But there's more than one way to skin a cat, and from what we saw this season, the new approach appeared to be working. We won't be able to confirm that until next fall when we see what kind of shape Zion comes into camp in, but I guarantee you that the current cast of characters cannot successfully employ the methods you are asking for.
