Everyone on here thought Penix was the best QB in the draft after he beat Texas.
Some posters in one thread, most of which seem to be praising his performance in the Sugar Bowl, is not “everyone”. All posters on this board are not bound by the opinion of a few. And anyone judging any players pro potential on 1 game good or bad is an idiot.
That some of you think he will be the best or 2nd best QB in this class, that’s cool I am not in anyway disparaging that opinion. However, through all of the draft process most of the discussion was whether Penix or Nix would be the 5th QB taken. Him being 4th was a huge surprise, there was zero chance he was cracking the top 3, the rankings of some analysts like Kurt Warner aside.
To the topic in the OP with the exception of Jones and maybe Lance all were consensus better prospects. Please note that is the consensus of professional draft analysts not message board posters or “the board” That of course does not mean Penix can’t or won’t be a great player, that will be determined later. However even if he does become a good player it was still unbelievably stupid for the Falcons to take him after signing Cousins to such a big deal.
