Same thing was said last year. He has not really improved with a summer, winter, and over 1/2 a season.

So what. He gets on base at .400 clip, is 2nd on the team in BB+HBP and plays an elite CF.
He gets on base the 3rd worse of the SEC starters in conference play. Only Pearson is worse at OBP in conference play among the 4 outfielders, and Kling also has the worst OPS and worst BA by a lot.

Jay would welcome him back with open arms next year if he chose to forgo the draft
Completely agree with this. Has the tools just has to find some consistency.

thought Kling would have a better year, but I don’t want him out of the line up. I’d ride or die with Kling. He’s is going to be a damn good player.
Kling is to position players as Hurd is to the pitching staff. Need them both to play well to go far, and they’re both capable, but they have to string it together.

Meh. There are posters here that disappear when Kling is playing well and magically re-appear if he strikes out. Even if your statement were true, that doesn’t stop them from shitting on the guy every chance they get.

Until Kling can guard the outside part of the plate he's gonna be the CF version of Hal Hughes.

Kling has a better OBP than Bingham and Pearson. They are all very close but Larson is the only one with a better OBP than Kling in conference play.

The problem is who do you replace him with? Nobody on the the bench is better at the plate and can play CF.

He is hitting .167 in SEC play this year and hit below .200 in SEC play last year. You can have all the talent in the world and if you can't hit over .200 you can't play. He needs to go to a Southeastern or a McNeese where he has a chance to hit .300 next year instead of hitting below .200 in SEC play for 3rd straight year.
Bingo we have a winner

Notbilly he is hitting. 167 with a .294 OBP in SEC play. For his career the only time he has played well is against non sec pitching so what do u consider playing well.

Maybe Kling has finally put all his bad days in the rear view mirror.

I think most of us are rooting for the guy since he was such a highly touted prospect, but he is definitely not a leadoff hitter. He strikes out 36% of the time (37/106) which is ridiculous. Larsen belongs at that spot and I think you will see that soon. Kling needs to be 8 or 9 in the lineup.

Thanks for pointing that out. I overlooked Bingham at .293 to Kling’s .294. OPS and BA still stand though.

He has 146 plate appearances. That means he strikes out 25% of the time

We all know Kling can hit Non Sec level pitching but in SEC play he has struck out 17 times in 42 at bats which is 36%. Not good!

How many plate appearances has he had? You don’t calculate K% using ABs. That’s not how that works. Kling also just ended a 9 game hitting streak last night. Hes played much better the last month yet everyone seems tk want to ignore that and tell us what his season long numbers are. Kling playing better is good for the team believe it or not

He is hitting .167 in SEC play and .217 for season overall. neither is what you need out of a starter and especially a leadoff hiitter. The reason you use SEC stats is the conference is where the team needs to perform to go anywheres and in regionals and super regionals they are going to be facing SEC level pitchers or better not Southern or Southeastern level pitching. But go ahead and explain how hitting .167 is a good thing..for LSU not the opposition.

And he’s hitting around .300 the last month. You just made my point for me

I’m explaining to you how he’s played better, because he has, much better in fact. But you don’t want to hear about that. You’ve made that abundantly clear in multiple threads.
Maybe just explain to us again what his season long batting average is again. It should really drive your point home this time.

Rudy, it is kind of funny that you think how someone hit or played in March matters right now lol.
do you think Jay cares right now if Kling did not get a hit vs Miss St, Florida or Arkansas ?
or do you think he cares that he has hit .250/.382/.429 over the last 3 SEC series and is playing good defense?
Some of you truly have no idea how baseball works. It's hilarious

Glad he waited until late April to get his shite together

I'm definitely no expert in statistics, but could the improvement be attributed to facing weaker baseball teams? Other than the Tennessee game where he only got 1 hit, the teams they faced weren't exactly contenders.
