You’re 100% right, I think the reason this pick is getting so much scrutiny is nobody viewed Penix as a top 10 pick. He was more late teens to second round sort of guy.

For sure. I’m not the biggest fan of him. Actually kinda thought that some of his passes hung for awhile when o watched a few of their games. But I’m far from an nfl talent evaluator. I don’t hate the move at all if FO feels like he’s a franchise guy. Likely won’t get another top 8 draft spot with all that young talent.

If they think he’s going to be a franchise QB, then it’s the right move. It doesn’t matter when they picked him. Drew Brees was a 2nd round pick and became a great one eventually.
