If you think Penix is a franchise qb you 110% take him. It’s the unquestioned right move if you have him ranked highly. Guys tend to do well when they can sit a year or so. Kurt is 35 and coming off a bad injury.

Then why'd you give him 180 mil?

You’re 100% right, I think the reason this pick is getting so much scrutiny is nobody viewed Penix as a top 10 pick. He was more late teens to second round sort of guy.

So you sign an old QB coming off a bad (your words) injury to a massive deal to be your QB for a year or two?

Penix is almost four years older than Jordan Love was when he was drafted. Going into this season Penix will be 24 and Love 25. GB also has one of the best offensive coaches in the nfl to mold Jordan Love, which the falcons do not have.

And GB was “stuck” with Rodgers. The Falcons have known penix would be there at 8 all off season. They didn’t have to go get cousins, they could’ve signed a Ryan tannehill or Jacoby Brissett type

Do they? CJ Stroud didn’t sit. Neither did Burrow or Herbert. Allen started 11 games as a rookie. Brock Purdy was a 7th round pick and looked just fine starting by the end of the season as a rookie.

If sitting a year is the magic formula shouldn’t someone trade for Trey Lance.
