No question. But the UN isn’t a terribly reliable source when it comes to Palestinians. For example, UNRWA says there are 5,700,000 Palestinian refugees today. They arrive at that number by counting the descendants of anyone displaced from 1946-1948. Its absurd. By that definition, I’m an Austrian refugee.
Completely understand and that’s a valid criticism. I’m no fan of the UN. Their reports I read earlier did seem biased towards the Palestinian side.. That said, I don’t believe they’re working with Hamas to inflate these casualty figures. The Times article cited two university studies that corroborate the numbers via different methods and also validated numbers they had reported in the past.
For the other people here saying the numbers are fake, with no proof backing that claim up, you guy’s can go play with yourselves or watch cartoons. Y’all know they are lying so that’s the end of discussion? Refusing to consider anything that might contradict your position is some toddler level critical thinking.

Call it whatever you like. 14,685 children killed is gross. How does that even happen?
----
As of 22 April, according to the authorities in Gaza, of the 34,151 Palestinians killed in Gaza, 14,685 have been children and 9,670 women.

Play with this cartoon.
Hamas hides in and under schools, mosques, and hospitals. Israel is targeting Hamas militants. So ...
Assuming your 14,685 number is legitimate (which you naively do), and assuming Israel is targeting adult male Hamas terrorist scum, how do you suppose 42% of resultant deaths are children?
Assuming Israel is targeting adult male Hamas terrorist scum, how do you suppose 71% of the deaths would be women and children?
A bright person, a thinker, an intellectually rational person, would see the Hamas fatality claims and immediately ask those questions. But you don't ask. Instead, you see the claim, accept it at face value, and form an emotional conclusion. The thing speaks for itself.

Yea. An organization with 57 majority Muslim members is biased on this issue. For example, the United Nations Human Rights Council was created in 2006. Israel has been the target of 46% of all UNHRC resolutions condemning a nation state. Israel, a democracy with universal suffrage and religious/gender equality has been condemned more than North Korea, Sudan, Iran, China, Russia, Saudi, Myanmar, etc. combined.

I think the number of Gazan casualties are probably accurate. Or accurate enough. And for the record I strongly disagree with what Israel has done in response to October 7. But calling this a Palestinian genocide is an idea that is rightly left expressed by college nitwits. This is a war between a nation state and a quasi nation state taking place across an urban battle field. One side has far more capacity and takes some care to reduce civilian casualties. The other side has no real capacity and takes no care to reduce civilian casualties.
Hopefully it ends soon.

When you deliberately place your terrorist fighters in the middle of schools and hospitals, collateral damage occurs. Palestine voted Hamas in, this is what they get. Next time try not electing and supporting a terrorist organization to run your government.
Just as the Germans voted in the Nazis, I don't feel bad for the civilians that perished in WW2.
