And that most women in 2024 work and earn a paycheck, so it’s not just his house and his cash, right?

To answer your question, women in the long term are on average worse off financially after a divorce…simply because the whole family is. You’re taking the “income pie” (regardless of who is earning what, or who is paying who alimony) and spreading it over two households now instead of one.

you cant just gloss over that "regardless of who is earning what". chances are that she makes way less than him, and in a divorce will come out a net winner. she might be financially worse off after the divorce compared to when they were married, but still way ahead from before she met him.

I’m not glossing over it. It just didn’t have anything to do with the point I was making.

I’ll address it here. Yes, she is likely making less, but that’s usually because she’s making career concessions to care for the home and kids. Men generally don’t do that, focus on their careers and earn more.

By saying she “comes out ahead”, you’re implying that what she’s doing in lieu of earning more money isn’t worth anything.

Maybe, maybe not. I’m saying that there are consequences to a married woman getting divorced. She is, in fact, worse off as a consequence of getting divorced. I’ve never made any comparisons to her pre-married state.
