Nope. We just left it. I would argue the Golden Era of TV started in the late-90s with the premiere of shows like The Sopranos and The West Wing.

During the period from 1999-2019 you had the following shows premiere that really set the pop culture world on fire:

The Sopranos
The West Wing
Band of Brothers
Six Feet Under
24
The Shield
The Wire
Battlestar Galactica
The Office
Deadwood
Lost
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
How I Met Your Mother
Rome
Avatar: The Last Air Bender
Friday Night Lights
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
The Big Bang Theory
Luther
Sherlock
The Walking Dead
Homeland
Game of Thrones
House of Cards
Orange Is the New Black
Better Call Saul
Black Sails
Stranger Things
The Crown

I think putting the Crown and Stranger Things(hell, even OITNB or BCS) in the same category of Sopranos/West Wing is a BIIIGGG stretch.

Sopranos was done filming before Netflix was sending out DVDs.

I've watched exactly ten episodes in total out of all of those shows, 6 of those episodes being the first 6 of season 1 of Friday Night Lights.

And during this period of time, you still had The Simpsons, King of the Hill, South Park, Quality SNL, and the late night shows like Conan, Letterman, and Leno were still running and still funny and interesting. And for a good chunk of that time frame, The Daily Show was still funny.

Very similar to the Golden Age of LSU Football! It started with Saban. Continued with Les and Ed O wrote the last chapter of that three Natty run. Here's to hoping Brian Kelly can keep it going.

Seriously, I agree we just lived through The Golden Age of TV. HBO, AMC, FX, Showtime and Starz were all really big contributors. The networks contributed stuff like The West Wing, 24, Lost, Hannibal and a lot of other great shows Compared to the TV shows we got from these guys, during that 20 year period, there's been a big fall off. Sometime it feels like there's too much crap out there to weed thru it all now, but this board would know about it, and share the good reviews, regardless of how much crap is out there.

FX may be the best source of good TV right now. With one episode left, I'd say Shogun is the best thing we have right now. Fargo wasn't bad, but it isn't as great as it was the first three seasons. I enjoyed Snow, but admit I haven't watched all of it. I've been rewatching stuff like Rescue Me, 24, The Shield, Saving Grace, The Americans on hulu. Fox is a bigger contributor than I remember them being.
