Was there ever an answer to what happened in vault 32?
I finished season one a few days ago, enjoyed it, and completely forgot that we really never got an answer to what happened in vault 32 which was one of my biggest curiosities (as someone who didn’t play any of the games)
Is it just that the Vault 32 people figured out Vault 31 housed “specific leaders” and if so I guess I understand killing the overseer (he was found tied up and dead) but then why kill one another? It was a gnarly scene in Vault 32. I was expecting something big there and completely forgot that I don’t think it was ever answered

Not sure if it was explained in the show or I read it somewhere, but essentially their crops failed and they ran out of food. Everyone either starved or killed themselves to avoid starvation. In order to preserve the integrity of the goals of the vaults, communication between vaults is non-existent or just between the overseers, so there was no way they could get help from 33.

It looked like a lot of them killed themselves. Like the one body sitting in a chair holding a fork stuck into a toaster.
I kind of agree that the reaction didn’t really make sense unless there was something else going on.
ETA: The point above about starvation (or maybe even trying to avoid cannibalism) makes sense.

Based on all the bloody messages smeared on the walls like "We know the truth," they figured out the truth about the purpose of their vault and revolted.
What resulted were a breakdown of the society with people killing each other and themselves.
