Because polling shows that abortion is in a majority of people's top 10 voting issues.
Boys playing girls sports isn't in the top 100.

NBC poll 70+% want trans to compete as their sex assigned at birth
If course, this just means the left will push for gender to be assigned later in life, not based on chromosomes or genitalia.
