My wife holds a Canadian bank acct. that has a little less than $100k in US value. We get asked at tax time every year if we hold over $100k in a foreign acct. This year they ask that, and aboot $10k. Above $10k now needs a special form filed.

If the Canucks and US are sharing each other's citizen's bank information, why is filing this form necessary? Just another piece of red tape.
