As a government, you cannot force someone home (away from work and away from an opportunity to pay bills) and not indemnify them for the government actions.

You can claim that any lockdown was wrong. And that is a fair argument.

But what you cannot do is claim that citizens obeying the mandated requirements "to not work" were not due assistance with their lost income.

There absolutely is an obligation of the government to reconcile the situation.

Only a big government liberal socialist would think like this.

It is an easy exercise.

Either the government tells the landlord/mortgage, water company, electrical company, gas company to suspend their billing.

Or the government supplements lost income which taken away from the citizens by mandate.

It is no different than if I personally forced you out of work.
Every attorney in the country would jump at the opportunity to make you whole as I have tortiously harmed you.

For what it is worth, I opposed mandates.
I would have voluntarily stayed home as we have family who are immuno-compromised.
The actions needed for my immediate family do not justify mandates for the entire country.
I believe in personal accountability and personal responsibility.

But when my choices for accountability and responsibility are stripped from me, the one taking that accountability is now responsible.
