Making a collage for a seating chart for my wedding. We have 9 picture frames that I am going to attach to a square structural backing made of 2x4s. Trying to think what the best adhesive will be to attach that to the back of the frames. Obviously wood glue is out since it isn't wood to wood.

Don't overthink this, Loctite PL375 is $3 a tube and works great as a general purpose construction adhesive that is easy to work and clean up. I keep a case on hand and use it all the time for repairs on all kinds of substrates. I used it to tile the backsplash in my kitchen, only a small area and vastly easier than mixing up a batch of thinset.
