NASA has a budget. So does the military. Or is your complaint that they are both well-funded and that’s why they are successful?

Honestly, I used to be a voucher proponent but all of the follow on stats seem to show that the overwhelming majority who use them are people with kids who were already going to private school. I think at it's base, the problem is that vouchers don't really deal with the elephant in the room.
Some anti-voucher people ALMOST get it when they correctly point out that of course private schools do better. They do better for the same reason well of public schools do. Fewer problem students. It's just a whole lot easier to succeed with kids who are prepared to succeed. Teachers in private schools and well off public schools are the equivalent of Nick Saban coaching Alabama versus Nick Saban coaching the Citadel. Results will vary!!! LOL
Unfortunately, the anti-voucher people can't seem to accept the real solution for public schools. Namely, to do exactly what private schools and better off public schools do. Completely weed out the shite kids.
We could improve every public school system in the nation if we simply made one school in every district the place we send the lost causes.
The problem in shite schools isn't the fact that the horrible kids in the school fail. The problem is that the horrible kids in the school CAUSE OTHER KIDS who might have a chance to fail also. They bleed resources. They bleed teacher attention. They cause good teachers to leave at the first opportunity. So the few kids who show up actually giving a frick are shite out of luck.
We can try vouchers to help those kids escape but poor kids like this can't go to the private school for many reasons and money is just 1.
Alas. No one wants to make the hard call. No wants to give up on 12 year old Johnny who is on his 3rd stint in the court system. So, we remain stuck in quicksand.

Eliminating low IQ and handicapped students is the fastest way to significantly increase the public school testing.
Mainstreaming is the biggest issue. Mentally handicapped used to have their own programs and schools.
Its the kids in the middle who suffer. High achievers dont really need much instruction, and the low achievers are taking up all the resources.

Bring it on.
At least property taxes are charged on a local level, and I can get my school board member or my parish council member to answer the phone and talk to me.
If my net tax bill doesn't go down one penny, yet more power and decisions are made at the local level, this is a huge win.
Thats a lot of assumptions for Louisiana politics.

He was exactly correct.
I didn't say it wouldn't happen, but that is no reason not to reimburse people their tax dollars if they are not using the service they are paying for.
The vouchers should go to the parents, not the school.
Capitalism will take care of the rest.
The bottom line is that the Gov isn't worried about the availability of seats in private schools or the quality of education in private schools. They want to be the only hand stuffing pervert propaganda into the children's heads.

It’s not about the schools, it’s about the students. Do voucher students perform better at voucher schools than at traditional schools? The answer is a resounding no. They actually perform worse.

What money to do you pay to the state specifically for public schools?

Property taxes.
Wrong, try again.
Georgia is fricked up.
We have a property tax equalization that is state run.
The state takes about 17% of my county's property taxes and redistributes it to poor counties across the state.
I live in Dawson County. A 1 high school town which has been a countywide Title 1 school district (over 60% of families in the county qualify for free and reduced lunch receiving federal dollars). We have about 28,000 residents and a school budget of $17.1M.
The state redistributes our property tax dollars to poor counties like Gwinnett County (24,000 faculty members with a school budget of $3.4B).
You've got to love "government redistribution".

I don’t understand why people are opposed to school choice.
1) I trust most of this board to make an informed choice. Do you trust Quanasha to make an informed choice for her 7 kids?
2) This is more about funding sources. Where's the $520M a year in funding going to come from?
3) You can choose any school you like. But if you want the government to pay for it, then you go to the school the government pays for.

Military budgets are unconstrained in war. Theyre also out of whack with the rest of the world.
You can make anything run, including schools with enough money, but its not helping achievement.

Many schools have become unimageable, because the public model is built to bring in funding, not teach kids.
The public model is to teach all kids because that is what the law says they have to do.
Besides if a school expels or suspends too many kids, their scores go down. And when principals are graded on school scores, what do you think is going to happen?
Not to mention if you kick out too many students of color, you have the activists and the fedgov crawling up your backside.

Read your state constitution.
It details why the government is providing education. And it details who the public education is provided to.
If private schools cannot meet the standard within your own state constitution, then they should not siphon off resources either.
Go ahead. frick up your private schools, too, so they can get a piece of the government tit.
I'm sure that will be a win for the conservatives in your district.

So you just responded to be snarky? You didn’t actually have a point? Noted.
The rest of your post didn’t address that voucher students perform worse at voucher schools than they did at traditional public schools. That’s why I mentioned it.

They refuse to discipline their own children. They scream racism if the schools try to weed out the discipline problems. And is any that hurting white people on the whole? No. It hurts black people! Black parents and children who might have some chance in hell get overwhelmed in schools full of complete shite human beings and the only response of black "leaders" is to use it to beat up white people politically.

We spend more per student already than most of the world, and our education is getting worse.
But it creates a lot of jobs for very average humans.
If our Public system were private, everyone would get fired.
