Years ago the chairman of the board of one of our local banks was an old guy who never married and lived at his camp out on the lake. All he did was fish, hunt, and make money. Somebody saw him on the side of the road picking up cans one time and said, "you're the richest man in town, why are you picking up cans>" He replied, "that's why I'm rich and you're not."

Told the story on here before…

Guy I worked with in Tulsa at a small bank had been VP of a bank outside L.A. that had a “pet” homeless man who came around daily collecting cardboard from the dumpsters in the area. Said he suddenly stopped coming around so they got concerned and eventually got the cops involved in a welfare check.

Turns out the old bum had an apartment and died in his sleep. They found several thousands of dollars in cash around the apartment and a bank account with a different bank. Guy was a multi millionaire off the cardboard scrap he sold to recyclers and living cheap.
