I've only briefly looked into it but I want to do it. My GGM and GGF on the maternal side are from Sicily. However I don't know about the whole renouncement thing. My wife and I are gonna go buy a $1 house and live in peace and quiet!

Lot of people can do it for less than 1k. Just have to pull all the documentation. Check the census records on ancestry.com to see what they put on there as a starting point
