no more having to cut several of your vet players for a sam bradford.
you can afford to take projects at qb in 1st round, you couldnt when u had to pay them 10-20mil per. He got 5 years, 65 mil for doing nothing in nfl, but being drafted.

And showing up to camp. That’s why rookie salaries soared so quickly.
Jamarcus didn’t even show up to the Raiders complex until after the season started. He missed all of training camp, and the first game. He held the Radiers hostage until they forked over tens of millions of dollars for a player that had never thrown an NFL pass.
They denied it at the time, but the Texans drafted Mario Williams over Reggie Bush because Williams agreed to a contract before the draft.
