Race has nothing to do with anything in this game. Nothing

Race has less to do with sports in general than we think not just WBB. There are certain advantages between races (whites have slightly longer torsos, sub Saharan Africans have quicker twitch reflexes) but they’re not as significant as we tell ourselves. The overwhelmingly biggest thing is that black kids want to be athletes way more than white kids. Charles Barkley said it best, when he gives talks at white elementary schools, like 3rd graders, only about 10% of the kids want to be professional athletes when they grow up, at black schools it’s more like 90%. A lot of white parents drill into their kids’ heads that the odds of making it in a professional sport are extremely low, so unless they’re among the best in the state, they tend to choose to make money elsewhere.

BIack people do not get that lesson in America to the same extent. They’ve traditionally seen it as one of two of their only chances to be rich (the other one is music).

Overseas it seems like a different issue since the biggest sport in the world (soccer) is mostly white.
