30-40 years ago you could get a job out of high school where you could learn those skills on the job (and they paid for a lot of those certs), without a college degree, and without 5 years of “experience”.
We’ve effectively created a gap in labor as a result.

Its free for poor people.
In fact, you can get training if you want to do construction.
