People are stupid. Seems like a "don't look directly at that" would suffice... you know... like it did when we were kids. But... you'd have some dumbass tiktok challenge to see who could stare at it the longest, then somebody would go blind, then that kids parents would sue the school for letting their kid go outside during an eclipse.

i'm strangely friends with quite a few opthamologists and I saw one recently and asked how work was and he said:

"actually been very exciting. we are ramping up awareness to make sure people know not to stare at the eclipse, but then also bringing on staff for the people who won't listen to us afterwards. make sure you get NASA certified ISO ### glasses to look for your family."

was actually a humorous reaction from a pretty quiet guy.
