I honestly couldn't care less about Women's Basketball, although I was aware/casually following it as far back as Mulkey's career at La Tech.
95% of these "fans" are just jumping on the bandwagon because it's LSU winning at something. And I think most will acknowledge that; I bet 3/4 of them won't even know who wins the natty until somebody tells them or they read it somewhere (it's not something they're going to watch, regardless of who's in it).

All that said, I'm amazed at the levels this attack has gone to. It's a textbook example on how to ostracize and discredit someone, universally, ... and it's all using the 'negatives' approach. Meaning, it's all something Mulkey didn't do, and not what she DID do.

Invalidate her on the Left: she didn't back Griner after being arrested for breaking the law in another country. And she didn't encourage her gay athletes to be publicly flaming while at a Baptist institution.

Now, invalidate her on the Right: she didn't have her team out on the court for the national anthem.

So what did she actually do, in these carefully framed "unacceptable" events?
She is a coach. Her job is to train and prepare her athletes to succeed at basketball, and focus on the task at hand. By any measure, she is very good at that, as evidenced by her success both as a player, and now as a coach. She's one of the few coaches who can seemingly land anywhere and elevate the program. Baylor was nonexistent as a program, she won a title. LSU had moments of contending in the past, she came here and instantly became a contender, won a title year 2 (while in the same conference as the acknowledged best program, SC).

What more do you ask of a coach?

I'm looking at the firestorm around her, and wonder: who stands to profit by this all?
