Correct. Roundup is a weed killer. Broadleaf killer such as 2-4D or Crossbow will have more effect on a mature tree. Thats why i only use roundup around my trees and mix roundup and 2-4D to spray fence lines and ditches.
If you want to kill a mature tree you can mix crossbow and a little diesel and “paint” it all around the trunk of the tree.
